Smart Glass
Smart Glass is a new and exciting innovation in glazing technology. Smart Glass refers to electronically switchable glass or glazing that changes light transmission properties when voltage is applied.
There are two main types of Smart Glass that we offer:
- The first is Light Controllable Smart Glass, which is a type of Smart Glass that allows users to control the amount of light and heat passing through the glass. With the slide of a switch the glass gradually changes from transparent to tinted, partially blocking light whilst maintaining a clear view of what lies behind the window.
- The second type of Smart Glass that we can supply and install is Smart-Tint Switchable Glass that provides privacy at the flick of a switch. The glass becomes transparent when a current is passed through it, but once the switch is flicked off it returns to an translucent, milky-white colour that still lets in light.
The use of Smart Glass can save costs for heating, air-conditioning and lighting as well as avoid the cost of installing and maintaining motorized light screens, blinds or curtains. Smart Glass can fulfill many functions. The main use for Smart-Tint Switchable Glass is in internal partitions where many companies now enjoy the ability to switch screens and doors from clear to private. The same type of Smart Glass has also been proposed for use in hospital settings to controllably provide patients with privacy as needed. The most popular use for Light Control Smart Glass is in roof lights and conservatories where it is necessary to control the amount of light and heat entering a room.

Smart-Tint Switchable Glass

- Minimum Size: 200 x 300 mm
- Thickness: Various from 8.8mm for laminates and from 20mm for Double Glazed units
- Colour tints: Blue
- Glass types: Gas filled double glazed units (external windows)
- Processing: Double Glazed, Drilled Holes, Curved, Shaped, Triple Glazed
